Yoga for Self Love

Hello Beautiful People,        How are you?         This week Ben (my husband) has been super busy doing renovations on our house while I've been busy looking after little Rafael 24/7.    Its got me thinking alot about the concept of (and reality of) identity. At the moment I can literally feel my identity shifting day by day, as each day brings new challenges and skills relating to motherhood and all the while the penny is really starting to drop that I can only hold down a minimal percentage  of the things that I used to do.      In yogic philosophy - especially Advaita philosophy the question 'who am I?' comes up a lot. The great sage Ramana Maharshi taught that enquiring into the true nature of the self was the fastest route to enlightenment. He believed that when we seek to find the unchanging part of ourselves we find that neither our body, our minds, our emotions or the many roles we play truly define u...

Open Heart

Hello Beautiful People :)    How are you?     Today is a special day for me ...well I suppose every day is a special day (!!) ...,but today is a little more special as it marks 10 weeks since little Rafael was born.   I write this feeling soo many feelings as there has been so much to learn and integrate since he came along. Every day is full of oh-so many inspiring moments and oh- so many mundane ones where time seems to slow down and speed up simultaneously and my limitations come crashing in to my awareness! Yoga is a huge part of what is keeping me sane(ish) at the moment and there seems to be many  a wonderful reminder to try my best, surrender,  and breathe.    Today is also special because it is my first attempt at releasing a new yoga video since the little one came along. Today I share with you  a 45 minute Heart Opening session, including footage taken during my most recent live cl...

Anandamayi Ma Mantra Meditation :)

Hello beautiful people,     I write this from the uk where I am back after quite a long time away. It is lovely to be around family and friends and I'm feeling rather pampered since a) I'm over 8 months pregnant now so no one is letting me do much of anything and b) with no guests to look after, no dogs for me to look after here and no endless renovations on my plate I have a lot more free time on my hands!     I'm very much looking forward to returning to lead the Sunday Mantra singing group I started in Hampton some years ago.     In the light of this I wanted to share a classic mantra that the Hampton Love Collective has sung right since the very beginning called: Anandamayi Ma.   Free Anandamayi Ma Meditation click HERE!   This is a beautiful traditional kirtan sung call and response style to fill your life with Divine Mother energy. This one honours motherhood in all its forms and the endless love and light we receive in the for...

Shiva Shambo!

Hello there :)        How are you?   This week seems to have flown by! Visiting family has given many opportunities for having fun and learning this week...  always learning!    I have been giving lots of thought to how we communicate. Do we really know what we are saying most of the time?! Do we truly think about how our words effect others before we speak? It seems our speech can tell us very much about who we are and how we want others to see us... I think a blog post or video on the Buddhist practice of Mindful Speaking will come quite soon!     So for today's FREE Friday session- I wanted to share another Mantra fro. This one is a simple, traditional Shiva Mantra that you can try to sing along with at home, or play behind your yoga practice or other meditative art.    Shiva mantras are supposed to be good at helping us to let go of things that no longer serve us- habits, thought patterns, even un-...
